It's almost 1:30am and I've been going through the last of my records and getting ready to move into our new place. Not only is it closer to both my wife and I's work, but my brother from another mother and label man Edeeq(Lynn Ness)from New Medina, we're neighbors now!
Anyways, back to the records.I have been meaning to write and put up this 45 for a long while now. The 45 in which I speak of is The Symphonic Four: Who Do You think You're Fooling Pt's 1 & 2 on Zudan (Whom also put out both The Earls Inc. 45).
Cool ties and history with the group itself. The members mainly consisted of earlier members of The Parliaments and Funkadelic. The lead singer of this particular 45 went on to sing back vocals with The Detroit Emeralds, and as you can hear in this recording, the similarities of music styles being produced. This 45 is as sweet as soul can get and for the time period it was recorded, there are a varied amount of influences. The song content is pretty heavy as well.
A favorite amongst soul collectors, dj's, and was featured in a CD mix a while back by Matthew Africa and my man Josh Bea aka DJ B Cause of the 4 One Funk Crew titled "Soul Boulders" . A real heavy and soulful treat not to be slept on.
So in it's entirety and both sides mixed, this is for your listening pleasure.
**Note this is not the version from the "Soul Boulders" CD. This is one I did a couple of years back.
Peace,
Adrian M.(age)
